After a long winter of news, testing and work the Yamaha BLU CRU Evan Bros Team is ready to start the 2025 Supersport World Championship season. A season that will see many new features for the team from Ravenna, starting with a new bike, the promising Yamaha R9, and continuing with two new riders, Can Oncu and Aldi Mahendra.
The venue for the first round will be the Phillip Island track in Australia, where the last two days of testing were staged earlier this week. Here Oncu was brilliant, being the best Yamaha rider in the standings thanks to the 4th position obtained, while Mahendra took his first steps on a track unknown to him, improving his times one session at a time.
The special feature of the two races that the Yamaha BLU CRU Evan Bros Team will face over the Australian weekend is the flag to flag, namely the pit stop that the riders must make by lap 10 to change tyres. A change made to the classic race format for safety reasons.
The Phillip Island weekend will kick off on Friday morning with the only free practice session available, while in the afternoon it will already be Superpole time. Saturday and Sunday will see the staging of Race 1 and Race 2, both at 14.30 local time, namely 04.30 CET.

Aldi Mahendra
“I am very happy to start the season, my first in WorldSSP. Over the winter I have worked a lot with the team to get ready, and I am curious to discover my potential over the weekend”.
Can Oncu
“I can't wait to get on track. The test at this track has been encouraging, but we have a challenging weekend ahead of us, where I hope to occupy the top positions. I am very motivated in view of my debut with the team”.
Fabio Evangelista (Team Principal)
“There is great anticipation within the team for this first round, for many reasons. The R9 is growing and we are curious to understand its potential in the race, also with a view to future improvements. In the test Can was really quick, while Aldi was good at listening to advice and progressing one step at a time, despite not knowing the track. We want to experience a weekend of growth, with the top positions in our sights”.
