Dalla Porta fights back and takes top ten in Race 1 at Portimao

Positive race Saturday for the Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha Team, who were able to take 10th place in Race 1 on the ups and downs of Portimao. Lorenzo Dalla Porta was in fact the protagonist of a race of character, where he did not shy away from overtaking.

In the morning Lorenzo took to the track for the Superpole, where he was unable to obtain what he had hoped for, as a top five speed was matched by an 11th place finish, and therefore the fourth row on the grid. At 15.15 Portuguese time the lights went out for race 1, with Dalla Porta protagonist of a complicated start, with the first lap ending in 14th position.

Despite this the Tuscan rider did not lose confidence, moving up to 12th place at the end of the fourth lap. In the rest of the race Dalla Porta battled with a large group of riders, exchanging positions several times but coming out on top, managing to climb up to 10th position.

A result that instils motivation in the Ravenna based team, which will be back on track tomorrow. At 10.25 CET it will be time for the Warm Up, while at 13.30 CET Race 2, which will last 17 laps, will start.

Lorenzo Dalla Porta - P10
"We expected more from today's race, but certainly a top ten is not a result to throw away. It was a tough race, but we gathered a lot of useful data ahead of tomorrow's race. I thank the team for the great work they have done since Thursday”.

Fabio Evangelista (Team Principal)
"Since Thursday we have improved step by step, even if the Superpole was not optimal. In the race Lorenzo battled hard, and despite a complicated start he managed to climb up to the top ten. Tomorrow we will try to do better, in line with our objectives".
