Mantovani one step away from top ten despite physical problems on day one at Mandalika

Day one of practice ended at Mandalika for the Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha Team, who had to deal with more than one obstacle. In the night between Thursday and Friday in fact both Andrea Mantovani and some members of the team were struck down by intestinal problems, which complicated the approach to the first free practice sessions.

Despite the difficulties Mantovani took to the track for FP1, getting to know the track and clocking up 17 laps. In the afternoon Andrea and the team gritted their teeth again for FP2: 'Mantorex' put all his tenacity into play, completing 18 laps and obtaining 12th position in both the session and the day's combined standings, just a few tenths from the top ten.

Afterwards Mantovani went to the medical centre, where the medical staff provided him with the necessary treatment. Tomorrow morning the Italian rider will be examined again, to assess whether or not he will be able to take to the track for the second day of action. Tomorrow in fact will be staged first the Superpole, at 2.55am CET, then at 5am CET Race 1.

"It wasn't an easy day, first of all from a physical point of view. The sensations on the bike were positive, as witnessed by the progress made in FP2, but unfortunately some intestinal problems limited both myself and part of the team. Now we just have to hope for an improvement, so that we can give our best tomorrow".
