Fernandez's furious comeback in Race 1 at Barcelona, difficulties for Mantovani

Race day for the Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha Team, who took to the track today for Race 1 at Barcelona. It was a complicated race for the team from Ravenna, with Adrian Fernandez 18th and Andrea Mantovani 20th.

In the morning the Superpole was staged, where Andrea and Adrian went in search of the best grid position. Mantovani was 20th, with 5 laps completed, while Fernandez was 24th. All in vain, however, for the Spanish rider, who was forced to start from the last position on the grid due to a penalty.

In the afternoon, with a slight delay due to the red flag shown during the Superbike race, Race 1 was staged. Author of a difficult start, Mantovani managed to recover positions in the central part of the race, but then dropped back down again, ending his race in 20th position. A courageous race for Fernandez, who despite the penalty did not lose heart, managing to recover as far as 18th position.

Tomorrow Mantovani and Fernandez will again go in the hunt for results: at 9.25 CET it will be time for the Warm Up, while at 12.30 CET the lights will go out for Race 2.

Andrea Mantovani - P20
"In the first part of the race I struggled, so I tried to manage. In races like this the most important thing is not to make mistakes and collect data, and we can say that we have achieved the goal. We're not satisfied with the result, but we're not giving up: I'm sure that with continued work the desired results will come”.

Adrian Fernandez - P18
"It was a difficult day. In Superpole I didn't have the best feeling, and unfortunately I later received a penalty which forced me to start from the back of the grid. In the race though things improved, as did my pace: unfortunately a little discomfort in one arm didn't help, but I'm happy with the progress. I am satisfied with the work done with the team, and I think we can do better tomorrow".

Fabio Evangelista (Team Principal)
"It was not the Saturday we wanted, but even on days like this there are things to be saved. Adrian, for example, made a brilliant comeback and did not let himself be discouraged by the penalty, while Andrea did well to manage the situation despite not having the pace he had hoped for. Tomorrow we will try to improve with both of them".
