Andrea Locatelli and the BARDAHL Evan Bros. WorldSSP Team dominate the test of Phillip Island

The last two days of testing in preparation for the 2020 season closed today at the Phillip Island circuit, with Andrea Locatelli and BARDAHL Evan Bros. WorldSSP Team absolute protagonists thanks to the first time obtained in all four sessions, and obviously in the combined standings.

Over the two days the work of the Italian rider and the team focused on finding the right basic set-up, working in particular on the electronics of the YZF-R6. Another central aspect of the test was the knowledge of the new Pirelli slick tyres, an absolute news for the World Supersport Championship, both in terms of the single lap and the race distance.

Locatelli got off on the right foot, finishing ahead of both sessions on the first day (Monday), with a time of 1'33"336 as the best result and 42 laps completed. However, the rider from Bergamo gave the best of himself in day-2 (closed with 49 laps completed), managing to maintain the leadership in both sessions and being the only rider able to drop below the time of 1'33. 1'32"831 his best time of the day, 657 thousandths better than the second placed in the combined classification of the two days of testing.

The pre-season can now be said to be really over, and all that remains is to wait for the first round of the season, which will start on Friday with the first free practice at the spectacular Phillip Island circuit.

Andrea Locatelli:"They have been two very positive days. We have worked in many ways and first of all on the tyres, trying to understand their behaviour especially on the duration: I covered the race distance with the same tyres and the times were interesting, so I am satisfied. The time attack also went well,I was immediately fast with new tyres. In view of the race weekend we will use Friday to look for the last expedients to improve our pace, but in general the team worked really well and we are on the right way. I can't wait for the first race!".
